Volunteering at Scouts is really flexible – it’s up to you what you do and how often you do it.
Here are some of the ways you can get involved.

Work directly with young people

If you’re a people-person who loves sharing knowledge and getting stuck in, there are loads of opportunities to use your skills within the sections. Working with other volunteers, you’ll plan and deliver challenging, relevant and rewarding activities for young people. If you’re happy to help once a week but don’t have much time for planning, you can download a preplanned programme of activities. Or if you’re a super busy person but still want to be involved, you can join our Scout Active support and take part, as an occasional helper.

Make things happen behind
the scenes

We’ve lots of behind the scene tasks too. Our our occasional helper assist groups with raising money, arranging events, getting publicity, recruiting young people and adults, maintaining buildings, and general admin. All of this doesn’t involve direct contact with our young people but is just as important to us.

Run our teams

If you’re a motivator who can get the best out of people, then we need someone like you to manage and support our adult volunteers. On joining the team, we’ll provide you with great training opportunities – always a nice addition to anyone’s CV.

No matter what role you pick, you’ll be fully trained and supported along the way. We care deeply about our volunteers, and want your time in Scouts to be as valuable for you as it is for our young people.
